Understand the Role

SIMI Swiss applies a quality assurance model for teaching based on the InTASC framework, which includes 10 standards implemented throughout the recruitment, training, and development of lecturers. Please refer to this link for more information.

For each recruitment position, we provide a detailed description of the standards as well as a mapping between the job requirements and the Interstate Teacher Assessment and Support Consortium (InTASC) framework.

2. Apply

2.1

Send SIMI your profile

Please send the following documents to SIMI Swiss at support@simiswiss.ch:

  1. Updated CV:
    Prepare a comprehensive Curriculum Vitae (CV) highlighting:

    • Academic achievements.
    • Teaching experience and philosophy.
    • Research projects and publications.
    • Awards, certifications, and memberships.
  2. Cover Letter:
    Tailor the cover letter to the specific role, addressing:

    • Why you are interested in the position.
    • How your experience and skills align with the role.
    • What value you can bring to the institution.
  3. Supporting Documents:
    These may include:

    • Teaching and research statements.
    • Sample syllabi or teaching evaluations (if required).
    • References or letters of recommendation.
    • Copies of publications or research work.

Initial Screening

  • Await Feedback: After submitting your application, you will receive updates regarding the status of your submission. We appreciate your patience during this process.

  • Respond to Queries: Should we require further clarification or additional documents, we kindly request your prompt response to ensure the smooth progression of your application.

2.3

Interview Invitation

First Interview (Shortlist Stage)

As a shortlisted lecturer candidate, you may be invited for an initial interview, either virtual or in-person, to discuss:

  • Your academic background and experience.
  • Your interest in SIMI Swiss and the specific department.
  • Your initial impressions about how your skills and expertise align with the role.

Preparation for the Interview:
To ensure you make the best impression:

  • Research SIMI Swiss, including its mission, programs, and the specific department.
  • Practice responses to common academic interview questions to articulate your teaching philosophy, research contributions, and professional goals.
  • Prepare thoughtful questions to ask the panel, showcasing your genuine interest in the role and the institution.

2.4

Teaching Demonstration or Research Presentation

As part of the next stage in the selection process, shortlisted lecturer candidates may be required to:

  • Deliver a Mock Lecture or Teaching Demonstration: Showcase your teaching skills and methodology in a simulated classroom setting.
  • Present Your Research: Share your research insights, contributions, and future plans with faculty members and students.

Gather Feedback:
Some institutions, including SIMI Swiss, may offer feedback on your presentation or facilitate a Q&A session, providing an opportunity for further engagement and discussion.

Assessment and Waiting Period

  • Background Verification: As part of the process, the university may conduct a thorough verification of your credentials, references, and previous experiences to ensure alignment with the role’s requirements.

  • Follow-Up: After allowing a reasonable period, you may politely inquire about the status of your application. This demonstrates your continued interest while respecting the institution’s time for decision-making.

3. Appoint

3.1

Offer

  • Receive the Offer Letter: If selected, you will receive a formal offer letter detailing:

    • Salary, benefits, and contract terms.
    • Expectations regarding teaching, research, and administrative duties.
  • Negotiate Terms (if necessary):

    • Discuss specific aspects, such as salary, research funding, or relocation support.
    • Clarify any uncertainties about the role, responsibilities, or terms of the contract.

Acceptance and Onboarding

  • Accept the Offer: Once all terms are agreed upon, sign the contract and confirm your acceptance.

  • Prepare for Onboarding:

    • Submit any remaining documents, such as degree verifications, identification proofs, or other required materials.
    • Coordinate relocation or logistical arrangements, if applicable.
    • Attend orientation sessions to familiarize yourself with the university’s policies, team members, and facilities.

Continuous Professional Growth

  • Engage with the University Community:

    • Begin teaching, mentoring students, and contributing to research projects.
    • Build professional relationships with colleagues and actively participate in academic and institutional events.
  • Focus on Career Development:
